POLAR STATES - TO PLAY MASSIVE HOMECOMING SHOW AT LIVERPOOL’s O2 ACADEMY

Forming just under a year ago in a Toxteth council flat, intrepid four-piece Polar States have their sights set on charting all new stratopheric musical latitudes and at breakneck pace. Now, after several months in the studio writing and recording songs for their highly anticipated new EP ‘Shimmer‘, the band have announced their return to the Liverpool live circuit in 2015 with a massive home town headline show at O2 Academy on Saturday 9th May 2015.

In a roller coaster year that saw the band win over Grammy Award winning producer Jon Withnall (Coldplay, Elbow, The Coral), the band have gone from strength to strength developing songs as rich and varied as the mercurial emotions poured into them.

Waxing lyrical about the ‘Roads We Used To Use’, ‘Dark Corners’ and everything in between, the foursome’s knack for a potent guitar-seared anthem has sent them sky-rocketing straight into the pantheon of Liverpool’s rich musical lineage.

Releasing their debut single ‘Concrete’ last year with Withnall at the production helm, the track immediately marked out the band’s keen ability to distil sublime indie pop, thoughtful lyricism and infectious melodies into a trim 2 mins 51 seconds. Inspired by a homeless couple, the track instantly gained Polar States airplay across the nation’s BBC R6, XFM, BBC Introducing Merseyside and Amazing Radio stations, as well as invitations to support the likes of The Heartbreaks, Little Comets, We Were Promised Jetpacks on tour and play XFM’s This Feeling.

In March 2015, the band catapulted back onto the music scene with ‘Vines‘, a track oozing with all the liquid guitar lines and souped up choruses that hallmark the Liverpudlian’s radiant sound.

Whilst Paul, Josh, Phill and Mark will always have their roots in Liverpool, their ambitions are focused straight on the stars, with Polar States the shared vision that will take them there.

Support for the Liverpool O2 Academy show on Saturday 9th May 2015 comes from The Jackobins and The Sonic Revolvers.
