We Are Scientists are one of those bands who seem to just have the right mix of fun and fantastic music, and they certainly didn’t disappoint once again, as they graced Belfast’s Limelight II and Dublin’s Academy on 11th and 12th May, following the release of their newest record, Megaplex.

Keeping it nice and simple with an identical setlist for both nights, the guys wowed the crowd with a varied mix of songs from each of their 6 studio albums. With everything from The Great Escape, to I Don’t Bite, After Hours, and Now Or Never,’and One In, One Out from the most recent album. Stopping periodically only to take a sip of beer and have an always entertaining chat with the audience, Keith and Chris certainly have a unique relationship with their fans, who are a loyal bunch and have grown with the guys since their inception in 2000.

Rounding off their set both nights with a strong encore of Dumb Luck, Nice Guys, and the now iconic Textbook, Keith Murray drew the set to a close by disappearing into the crowd, popping up in various places around the venue, and eventually ending up at the merchandise stand with Chris Cain, where they stayed until the last fan had gotten their picture taken and bought a ‘really good t-shirt’, marketed as ‘basically a garbage bag for their body.’

A great band with a strong desire for interaction – We Are Scientists are definitely worth catching on their European dates because if you weren’t a fan before, you will be by the time Keith crowd surfs his way over to the t-shirts!
