Listen to HAMBURG a new track from BILLY BIBBY & THE WRY SMILES

Llandudno, Wales, 20 June 2017 – Let the summer begin with a fresh track from Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles! It’s time to roll down the windows and turn up the volume with the rollicking and raucous ‘Hamburg’, is out now on all major digital platforms. The song got an exclusive preview earlier this month on Janice Long’s brand new show on BBC Radio Wales and has since been added to station’s A-list rotation.

There is no heartache or heartbreak to be found in the summer hit-in-the-making that is Hamburg; just a hearty hommage to holiday bliss and good times with friends. This particular tuneful tale began in August of 2016 when Billy Bibby decided to take a holiday in search of new inspiration and a short break after 9 months of intensive touring with his recently formed band.

Listen to ‘Hamburg’ BELOW:

Says Bibby, “I just wanted the song to have a nice solid beat so I could write the lyrics over and tell the story of how sometimes you need to step away from what you normally do when you’re working but then also at the same time try to remember bits of it to then go into a song when I got home! I think we all enjoy the euphoria of a break away when we’ve worked hard all through the year so I try to capture that in the music and in the lyrics of the song, especially the chorus, ‘I can’t help the way I feel, I just need this in my life again’.”

Truth be told, the Hamburg holiday wasn’t a complete break from performing. Billy managed to sneak in an interview and solo acoustic session at the invitation of the Hamburg-based “In Bed With…” during which he played the band’s single ‘Waitin’ for You’ and a cover of The Verve’s ‘Bittersweet Symphony’. Those videos can be found HERE.

Following the release of ‘Hamburg’, an anthem to friends and fun, how do Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles plan to enjoy the summer months? By working! Plan on non-stop touring, including festival slots headlining at Tramlines Crystal Stage and Kendal Calling, Calling Out stage plus others yet to be announced. Fortunately, there’s nowhere else they’d rather be, and who knows? They may even book a gig in Hamburg in the near future (it worked out okay for The Beatles, didn’t it?).
